About Black Relative
Do you have a Black relative? Are you a Black relative? Have you listened to the relatives, perspectives, and experiences of Black people? Are you close to any Black people to be able to do that? Are you a person who acknowledges the importance and relativeness of your Blackness? Regardless of your answer, this is a place for you to have both. A Black Relative, and a Black Relative. Still confused? Keep reading.
I am a Black relative in my families, which goes beyond the last name. Through my content here, I will share my truth and perspective relative to my Blackness, while giving a voice to artists, business owners, mental health advocates, and everyday friends and family of mine.
I know that my experiences are dependent on my being Black, whether I like it or not. Being Black is relative to the way I move both in fear and in confidence throughout the world. My Blackness cannot be ignored or taken away. My life is relative to my Blackness.
I along with so many other strong, intelligent, beautiful Black people, alter the way we maneuver ourselves in this world due to history, and fear of being hated for something as beautiful as our melanin skin. If you are Black and reading this, I see you.
If you are not Black and reading this, or cannot empathize with the above, I invite and encourage you to educate yourself and listen to our experiences and vulnerability throughout this podcast.
I will host guest of all races and walks of life to share their life achievements, struggles, stories, perspectives, truth, cultural differences, perspectives, and more.
My guest and I will talk about anything and everything on Black Relative, good or bad, in hopes of bringing awareness to needed discussion or awareness of the issues we see within our communities.
Black Relative is a podcast that offers a safe space for all to be vulnerable, heard, and connected with one another.

When seeing an artist perform, we often witness and admire the art, but rarely do we get to converse and hear about the artist's intention, emotion, and purpose, especially from the artist themselves, and vice versa.
“This event aims to open up a space for conversation for both the artists and the community to become more aware of mental health. I want to create the opportunity for the audience to be able to interact and know the performers better for the reason they do their art, as well as who they are as people. I want to show how art can be a helpful tool that is accessible to everyone, and how it can be used to express and release thoughts, stories, and emotions we may otherwise hold inside. I hope this event will give a louder voice to artists who haven't had a platform to share the deeper meaning and importance of art in their life.”
Being the 1st event I have on, I couldn’t be happier with how it all came together. I am so excited to continue sharing and creating a safe space for all to share.
I created flyers that you can read by clicking below, as well as a recap video named “With Love and Groove”-Retro. Created by Annie Perkins and myself. It dives more into who I am and why I did and will continue to put on Artistic Release Therapy Events such as this one.
Below you will find A link to “With Love and Groove”, a link to Annie Perkins Socials, and a link to all of the bios and pictures of each artist involved in my show, as well as a list of sponsors who supported me in making this dream of mine come true. Thank you all for your support!
